The New York Credit Union Association – Long Island Chapter, including Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union, recently presented a check for $30,000 to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, representing what would normally be the amount raised by this year’s golf outing. group.

For the past 28 years, Long Island Credit Unions have held a charity golf outing to raise money for nonprofit organizations in Nassau and Suffolk counties. In 2020, the 29th Annual Long Island Credit Union Golf Outing was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the credit unions reached out to annual supporters and delivered on their promise to the Cohen Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Diabetes Program with a donation comparable to previous years.

“The pandemic wasn’t going to stop us from supporting the important work of the Pediatric Diabetes Program at Cohen Children’s Medical Center,” said OFFCU President and CEO Joe Tedesco. “We and our colleagues at Long Island Credit Unions are proud to have been able to maintain this tradition of supporting children and families facing such an immense challenge.”
