TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Union Digital Inc., today announced that Derek Blackadder has joined the team.
Blackadder has 35 years of progressive leadership experience in multiple unions. He was a local leader, national leader and staff member of the Canadian Union of Education Workers. For 28 years, Derek has served the members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees as an organizer, national representative, deputy regional director and regional director. He retired as Director of Staff of the Society of United Professionals (IFPTE 160) in 2017.
Throughout his career, Derek has championed better use of digital technologies. From the late 1980s through the 1990s, Derek installed custom bulletin board systems for a number of labor unions and progressive NGOs. He was a senior staff member of LabourStart.org, the global labor movement’s online news and campaign website for over 20 years, and was an editor and columnist on all things internet and unions for Our Times magazine for more than 20 years. a decade.
